Responsible Gambling

Betting should stay enjoyable. When it stops being that, something needs to change. This page covers the tools available on 10CRIC to help you stay in control, the warning signs worth knowing, and where to get help in India if you need it.

Tools Available in Your Account

All tools are in Account Settings - Responsible Gambling. You can activate most of them yourself without contacting support.

Deposit limits Set a daily, weekly or monthly cap on how much you can deposit. Once the limit is reached, deposits are blocked until the period resets. Limits can be reduced immediately. Increasing a limit has a mandatory 24-hour cooldown - that delay is intentional and protects you from impulsive decisions during a losing session.

Set this before your first deposit. Takes 30 seconds and prevents the most common mistake: depositing more than planned during a bad run.

Loss limits Cap the total amount you can lose within a set period. Once you hit the limit, betting is blocked until it resets. Works alongside deposit limits as a second line of defence during losing streaks.

Session time reminders Notifications at set intervals showing how long you’ve been betting and how much you’ve wagered or lost in the current session. Useful during live IPL betting when it’s easy to lose track of time.

Self-exclusion Temporarily or permanently block access to your account. During exclusion: no login, no deposits, no betting, no marketing communications.

  • Activated via 24/7 live chat (not self-service - this ensures a brief conversation with support first)
  • Cannot be reversed before the chosen period expires
  • Withdraw your remaining balance before activating

Self-exclusion isn’t just for crisis situations. Some bettors use it during high-pressure periods (exam season, financial stress, major personal events) as a straightforward preventative measure.

Cool-off period Shorter than self-exclusion. A few days to a few weeks. Useful when you want a break without committing to a longer exclusion.

Warning Signs

Most people who develop gambling problems don’t notice it happening gradually. These are the specific patterns worth watching for:

  • Depositing more than you planned because you’re chasing a loss
  • Betting on matches you wouldn’t normally bet on just to “stay in action”
  • Feeling anxious or irritable when you’re not able to bet
  • Lying to family or friends about how much you’re spending
  • Using betting as a way to deal with stress, boredom or low mood rather than as entertainment
  • Withdrawing less than you intended to because you kept reinvesting

Any one of these occasionally is normal. Multiple of these regularly is a pattern worth addressing.

If You’re Concerned Right Now

Set a deposit limit immediately. Even Rs 500 per week. You can increase it later if needed - but having a limit in place stops the most impulsive decisions.

Contact live chat. Tell them you want a cooling-off period or self-exclusion. They’ll handle it in a few minutes. There’s no judgment in this conversation - the support team handles these requests regularly.

Tell someone you trust. A friend or family member who knows you’re taking a break makes it significantly easier to maintain.

Support Resources in India

10CRIC doesn’t have a dedicated Indian helpline. These do:

iCall Run by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Trained counsellors for mental health including gambling concerns.

Vandrevala Foundation 24/7 mental health helpline. Free, confidential, available in multiple Indian languages.

  • 1860-2662-345
  • 24 hours, 7 days

iHeal Online platform for mental health support including addiction counselling. Sessions available via video call.

  • iheal.co.in

Gamblers Anonymous India Peer support meetings based on the GA model. Online meetings available.

  • gamblersanonymous.in

If you’re not ready to call, the iCall email option and iHeal’s online format are lower-barrier starting points.

Financial Reality of Gambling

Two things worth being clear about:

Every betting market has a built-in house edge. On IPL match winner markets, 10CRIC’s margin is approximately 5.3%. Over many bets, this edge means the platform retains a statistical advantage. Winning sessions are possible and common. Consistent long-term profit requires genuine analytical edge, not just luck.

Betting is entertainment spending, not income. The money you deposit should be budgeted the same way as cinema tickets or a restaurant meal - money you’re comfortable spending without needing it back. If you’re depositing money you can’t afford to lose, the budget needs adjusting before anything else.

A practical bankroll approach: Decide on a monthly betting budget before the month starts. Divide it into weekly allocations. Bet 2-3% of your weekly allocation per bet. At those stakes, a full IPL season of regular betting won’t exhaust your budget even during a bad run.

During Major Events (IPL, World Cup)

The periods of highest betting risk are the same ones with the most excitement - IPL season, India vs Pakistan matches, knockout stages. A few specific things that help:

Make your betting plan before the match starts, not during it. Decide which markets you’re interested in and your maximum stake. Live betting decisions made under emotional excitement consistently produce worse results than pre-planned ones.

The toss shouldn’t change your plan. In IPL 2026 the team fielding first has won all 7 evening matches - a real pattern. But pre-planning for “if team X wins toss I’ll bet match winner at innings break” is different from making reactive decisions in real time.

Social pressure is real during IPL. Friends discussing bets, group chats, office conversations about odds. Your limits don’t need to match anyone else’s. What’s comfortable for someone with a different income or risk tolerance isn’t a benchmark for yours.

Protecting Others

Minors: 10CRIC requires Aadhaar or PAN verification before withdrawals, with age verification at registration. If you share a device with family members, use separate browser profiles or enable device-level parental controls.

Vulnerable adults: If you’re concerned about a family member’s gambling, iCall and the Vandrevala Foundation both support family members of people with gambling problems, not just the individuals themselves.

One Practical Step

If you’ve read this far and recognised something in the warning signs section: set a deposit limit right now before closing this page. Not a dramatic step - just a number in account settings. You can adjust it later. Having something in place is meaningfully different from relying entirely on willpower in the moment.
